What’s your theme for 2010?

Whether you set goals or not, why don’t you come up with a theme for 2010?

A theme can help clarify what’s important to you and filter out unimportant activities and time commitments.

Let’s give you an example:

Last year on 24 Dec we found out that I was finally pregnant after many, many years and suddenly all my priorities shifted as my main goal for this year was to have a healthy pregnancy.

Of course, that’s not as easy as you would think.

So my theme for 2009 was SIMPLIFY.

I cut down on all my business activities, social networking, delegated almost everything except tasks only I could do and also reduced my available coaching times.

All so I could help these beautiful babies grow big and strong 🙂

Next year my theme is CONSOLIDATE.

I really, really want to start coaching more again because I really, really, really miss working one on one with clients.

Also, my health is not where it was last year this time. The doctor told me that my immune system is compromised due to all the sleep deprivation!

While I have started eating better (as from November), there’s lots of room for improvement. I’m now at my pre-pregnancy weight but I still want to lose a few kilos.

Although the main area is my physical fitness – to put it bluntly, I feel like a bump on a log. Not surprising as I’ve driven to the gym numerous times, swiped my card to keep my membership active and driven straight back home.

I know I’ve had twins but this is not me – I’m used to being active and not feeling out of breath after climbing a flight of stairs.

So next year I’m getting back to basics – getting my health and fitness back where it should be, getting my coaching business  going, etc, etc.

I wrote more about how to keep your goals top of mind here.

If you want to do some goal-setting, there’s a free 2010 goals form waiting for you in my Organising Success Pack.

Over to you! Please share your 2010 theme in the comments.

P.S. As you’ve been reading, if this resonated with you, you may just want to work with me one on one. Email me on marcia @ marciafrancois.com

  1. Wow, toughie. We just found out my husband will most likely lose his job in a month, and that is going to color every decision and future steps. To that end, I believe that my main goal or theme is to BELIEVE. To know that God will take care of every step. To not fret and worry and be such a control freak. That may seem simple to some, but I know it will be a daily stretch for me. How I respond to this will affect how my husband and children react, and that is a huge responsibility.
    Thanks for making me think!!!

  2. my theme for 2010 is ‘overcome’.

    overcome issues.
    overcome stumbling blocks.
    overcome fears.
    overcome financial stress.

  3. I want to “just do it” like the Nike commercials. I have come to a point in my life that I am no longer a twenty-something kid and I need to get off the couch and just DO what I need to do. I might be able to have all my ducks in a row when it comes to homeschooling my son, but the rest of my life is so disorganized!

My motto will be “Let Go”
After going through a kind of repudiation last year ( my husband broke up a 35-year marriage) and being 58 , I need to let go of resentment and anger.
I would like to be able to tell me every evening that I took at least one action fulfiulling the “let go'” resolution during the day.

I think mine is going to be Learn. I need to learn how to be more organized and stay on top of the housework and I want to learn how to sew.

    Dear Marcia, dear fellow readers,
All the best for the New Year to you and your loved ones.
Marcia, I read your newsletters regularly and all the tips and eye-opening ideas listed in them. Thank you so very much for your sharing.
This year I wand to focus on my health – reduce my weight and become fit. I also want to spend more time with my children and support them more regularly in their studies. My third intention is to re-start drawing and painting at least once a week – something I enjoyed so much years ago.
Wishing you all good health, courage, patience and joy.

Enjoy getting started with your painting and drawing again. You’re going to LOVE it.

And I’m sooo with you on the getting healthy thing – let me know how you do.

…oh the single word for me might be LOVE – love myself, love my kids, love what I do!

  9. My 2010 word will be PEACE: peace with who I am, with how I look, in my house, in my home, in my relationships. I sometimes feel like my life is a rollercoaster without brakes, and I hate that!! I’m really looking forward to build a more peaceful life.

  10. I am really excited to see this post! I enjoy so much reading what you have to say and you always find a way to motivate me!

I finished my goal setting (haven’t quite finished my board but it’s getting there), and I would have to say that this year is all about BIG STEPS!
