A few weeks ago I got tired of lugging my gigantic handbag around.
I decided to switch to a smaller one and see what happened.
Here is the smaller bag:
and a closer pic
Well, I loved it.
As you can see, there’s a place for everything and everything is in its place.
I also love that there’s not a lot of space to throw miscellaneous items into which means I’m not lugging around things “just in case”.
When I’ve wanted to use some of my bigger totes, I’ve placed this entire handbag inside the fabric tote so it looks like a different bag but is, in fact, the same old thing.
You won’t believe how light it feels compared to all the things I used to carry around. Mind you, it was all organised but just too much.
So my question for you is this – how much do you carry around with you?
Do you prefer a big or small handbag?
Is yours organised or chaotic? 🙂
PS I’m looking for a guest blogger.

I don’t have a very big purse. Mine used to be organized until I had my cat pee in it… sweet, isn’t it? Anyway, this accident forced me to change for another bag and this one isn’t as organized as the previous one, the pockets inside aren’t as practical. I usually have my wallet with a couple cards inside, my ckeckbook, my sunglasses, my PDA, an umbrella (I know I could only take it when it should rain, but I forget and I’m sick of getting wet when I have this perfect tiny umbrella to carry! LOL), a little pocket with some personal stuff (lipstick, feminine stuff, kleenex) and that’s it! Oh, and DBF’s wallet when he’s with me! Why do men always complain about/make fun of our big bags but are the first ones to put stuff in there??? LOL
Chloe, I swear that’s one of my pet peeves. I choose a handbag not to carry other people’s wallets 🙂
I love the idea that you carry an umbrella all the time. In Jhb, it rains most days during summer and yet our nanny keeps “forgetting” her one and has to take mine. I keep telling her, “it’s Jhb – you should have your umbrella permanently”
Sorry about the cat pee – you must love her a lot if you’re still “friends”.
I tend to carry a bigger bag in the winter so I can stow my hat, gloves, etc. and a smaller bag the rest of the year. I do find that the bigger the bag, the more stuff I’ll lug around.
I LOVE bags. I have small ones and big ones and use them the way I need to, obviously depending on where I am going to.
Just yesterday my Mother told me that she wants one of those things that you put inside your bag and move from one bag to another. I see that you are using a different handbag for much the same purpose.
Must see if I can find it for her.
Rox, you’re absolutely right =- that’s what happens to me too. Pareto? A version of “work expands to fill the time available” 🙂
Julia, you can get one at Clicks or etsy (of course!) – I use one called The Pouchee http://takechargesolutions.org/blog/2009/01/25/today-im-reviewing-something-just-for-the-ladies/
