Back when I posted a tour of my desk in March (!), Renee asked the question, “what’s in that box?” referring to the box on the left of the pic below.
Well, I intended to post about it but I had to get organised and take pics when it was light. In summer I can take 10 minutes of photos quickly for a post before the light fades but winter weather means I have one or two hours a week (both on a weekend) to do all my photos for this blog.
So, onto the box.
In a nutshell, I keep all the papers/ books handy that I need to look at or refer to often. Often for me is on an at least weekly basis.
I have a folder that I call deadline-based projects for all my Groupons (filed in date order), any birthday party invites with directions, upcoming holiday details (confirmation of bookings, flight details, car hire, etc.). I go through this folder regularly to remind myself of the next deadline.
Then there are my 2013 goals. This is a 10-page flipfile but I like the ones from Clicks with a sturdy plastic cover where I keep all things goals. My full list of 2013 goals, my list of 100 goals from this book and then my monthly goals lists. I’m a bit obsessive actually. I print my goals list and keep a working copy in this file. I cross off completed goals with a yellow highlighter (must be yellow) and every month I give myself a score.
And then I have a few folders of things always on the go, like my photography stuff.
I also keep a few notebooks in here – my book of lists, a happy journal, business cards and that photo album actually has various pieces of cardboard instead of photos with my business checklists, like the list of things I run through every month when I’m doing my newsletter, or financials, or in the case of personal stuff, my photo checklist.
That’s basically it!
Was it as interesting as you thought? :P)
PS I’ve changed my desk around again. I probably should take new pics but don’t hold your breath – it will take a few weeks to get them up.
