Claire writes…
I have baskets and baskets of gels, lotions, potions, creams, pastes, and liquids of all shapes and sizes, and need a whole load of space to store them all.
(I think she’s an opener a la Gretchen Rubin 🙂 I’m a finisher. What are you?)
It doesn’t help that all 5 of us use different toothpastes and mouthwash from each other. we don’t have much storage space in the bathroom, so ideas to use it better would be fab.
Well, Claire, I have the smallest bathroom in the world and what works well for us is this:
We have limited our products to only what can fit in the tiny medicine chest (not used for medicine), I use the top of the cistern and that tiny, purple bucket for my morning make-up.
The 3-drawer wicker stores hand towels, facecloths and extra toilet rolls.
My suggestions:
I would either give each person a small basket to bring into and take out of the bathroom every day, or allocate a tiny bit of hanging space for facecloths and have one container (like my purple bucket) for all the toothbrushes and toothpastes. Also, really? 5 different toothpastes.
I think the seperate baskets to not keep in the bathroom idea is a great one. How about culling some of these items too. I know you need some items but reallly all sorts of creams and lotions. I keep my lotion and all in my bedroom.
Thanks for sharing your tips, Brandy.
I have a VERY small bathroom with ONE cupboard. Cupboard has shelves. EVERYTHING goes in cupboard. One shelf for bath stuff, one for towels and loo paper, one for magazines etc. etc.
I am definitely an Opener. Fortunately it’s not too much of a train smash – my husband uses up my stuff – it’s perfect for his sensitive skin. Whatever I don’t want to share (the people I live with are sometimes OVERLY generous with my stuff) I keep in my bedroom OUT of the bathroom.
Interesting that you linked Gretchen Rubin – am actually writing a post right now and I’m going to link one of her posts as well.
I love Gretchen Rubin – her posts always make me think.
Can you send me a pic of your small bathroom – have not met a smaller bathroom than mine. Oh wait, I have – my friends in NYC had a tiny one!
Hi Marcia, I’ve been following your blog for years. Love the new design.
Thanks, Charmaine!
