some reading for the weekend

I so love sharing fun things with all of you. I actually have to tone it down to just 5 links every month 🙂

Well friends, you all know I’m a big Gretchen Rubin fan so that’s my disclaimer but honestly, I ‘m LOVING her latest book, Better Than Before. I’m listening to the Audible version while I drive to and from work, but choose whichever version works best for your personality style.

Things I already know – I’m a night owl, I’m a finisher, I’m an underbuyer mostly with some overbuyer tendencies in about 7 areas 🙂 and of course, I’m an Upholder.

Have you taken the Quiz yet? What’s your tendency?

(I have some thoughts about the 4 types and which types are attracted to my work which I need to finish thinking about so I can write about it)

Speaking of personalities and such, I’ll be me and you be you is a really good post from The Frugal Girl.

And then, anyone who knows me knows this theory some people have that only the mothers can do parenting tasks at all, or well, is a hot button topic for me. Laura Vanderkam wrote about it here. She wrote 3 posts along these lines that week – this one is my favourite.

By the way, my other favourite book, Overwhelmed, also talks a lot about this topic.

And then, here’s a great post about the crossroads of MUST and SHOULD. Read it, especially for the obligers 🙂

  1. Hi Marcia,

I am an Obliger. I would agree – I often call myself a rule-follower. But I do struggle to keep commitments to myself. It will be good to know how to counteract this to create better habits – like washing my face! 🙂 Have a great weekend! Laura

    • AAAAH, thank you so much for taking the quiz! In a nutshell, external accountability 🙂

Strangely (or not), D and I are both Upholders but I told him he has a hefty dose of questioner in him 🙂

  2. I ordered your course! Yay!
And . . . it looks like I will be in Durban my birthday week! Still making arrangements but hope to be able to meet up with you in Ballito!

  3. And . . . I just read the Should and Must piece – so well written, so intriguing. I’m not sure I have a “change the world” idea lurking in me that just HAS to come out but still, very insightful for living my authentic life!
    Thanks for sharing!

  4. I am an Obliger. It is fascinating that tests like this can be so accurate! I know I am forever trying to make other people happy, but did not know that it would so evident when taking the test 🙂

I love love love your photo’s! Thanks for sharing them.
