What’s making me happier this week? (3)

We stayed at an amazing house during some of our holiday in Cape Town.

It was very neutral and beachy, and I kept thinking I want more of that feeling in my own house. And it had grey towels throughout 🙂

So when we put our house on the market, I thought, “ah! I need to get some grey towels” and so I did. A bonus for me – I even managed to get the perfect size of bathroom mat for the smallest bathroom in the world. It’s as if the mat was made for this tiny space.

And friends, wow, this grey towel and bathmat are making me SOOOOO happy. I even went back and bought a grey facecloth for me 🙂

What’s making you happy this week?

You ask, I’ll answer – on bathroom clutter

Claire writes…

I have baskets and baskets of gels, lotions, potions, creams, pastes, and liquids of all shapes and sizes, and need a whole load of space to store them all.

(I think she’s an opener a la Gretchen Rubin 🙂 I’m a finisher. What are you?)

It doesn’t help that all 5 of us use different toothpastes and mouthwash from each other. we don’t have much storage space in the bathroom, so ideas to use it better would be fab.

Well, Claire, I have the smallest bathroom in the world and what works well for us is this:

We have limited our products to only what can fit in the tiny medicine chest (not used for medicine), I use the top of the cistern and that tiny, purple bucket for my morning make-up.

The 3-drawer wicker stores hand towels, facecloths and extra toilet rolls.

My suggestions:

I would either give each person a small basket to bring into and take out of the bathroom every day, or allocate a tiny bit of hanging space for facecloths and have one container (like my purple bucket) for all the toothbrushes and toothpastes. Also, really? 5 different toothpastes.

Do you have a small bathroom?

What are your tips for Claire?
